Affiliate Disclosure

Full transparency about how we earn revenue and why it never compromises our editorial standards.

Volt Harvest is a free resource. We earn money through affiliate partnerships so we can keep publishing honest, in-depth solar generator reviews and guides without charging readers.

How Affiliate Links Work

Some links on Volt Harvest point to products on retailer websites like Amazon, manufacturer stores, and specialty solar equipment shops. These are affiliate links. Here is what happens when you use one:

  • You click a link to a product we mention in a review or buying guide. The link takes you to the retailer's website.
  • A small tracking cookie is placed on your browser by the retailer. This cookie identifies Volt Harvest as the referring site.
  • If you make a purchase within the cookie window (typically 24 hours to 30 days, depending on the retailer), Volt Harvest receives a commission from the retailer.
  • You pay the same price whether you use our affiliate link or go directly to the retailer. The commission comes from the retailer's marketing budget, not from an added charge on your order.

In some cases, we may also earn a commission if you purchase a different product during the same session after clicking one of our links. For example, if you click a link to a solar generator but end up buying a different model from the same store, we may still receive a commission on that purchase.

Editorial Independence

Our reviews and recommendations are based on our own research, testing, and analysis. Affiliate commissions do not influence which products we recommend, how we rank them, or what we write about them. Here is how we maintain that separation:

  • We write reviews first, add links later. Our editorial process starts with research and testing. Affiliate links are added to finished content as a way to connect readers with products, not as a driver of what we cover.
  • We recommend products we would not earn from. If the best product for a given use case is sold by a retailer we do not have an affiliate relationship with, we still recommend it. Helping you make a good decision matters more than earning a commission.
  • We publish negative reviews. If a solar generator performs poorly in our testing, we say so clearly, even if the manufacturer is an affiliate partner. Our credibility depends on honesty.
  • Commission rates do not affect rankings. Different affiliate programs pay different commission percentages. A product that earns us a higher commission does not get a better rating or a higher position in our rankings.
  • We disclose partnerships clearly. Every article that contains affiliate links includes a disclosure notice near the top of the page.

How to Identify Affiliate Links

We want you to always know when a link is an affiliate link. Here is how to tell:

  • Disclosure notices: Each review and buying guide article includes an affiliate disclosure statement near the top, typically right below the headline or introduction.
  • Link attributes: All affiliate links include rel="nofollow sponsored" in the HTML source code. This is a standard web convention that signals to search engines and screen readers that the link is a paid referral.
  • Call-to-action buttons: "Check Price" and "View on [Retailer]" buttons within product review cards are affiliate links.
  • Context: Links that appear within product names, pricing sections, or "where to buy" areas are typically affiliate links. Links to our own internal pages (other articles, the about page, legal pages) are never affiliate links.

If you are ever unsure whether a link is an affiliate link, you can hover over it and check the URL in your browser's status bar. Affiliate URLs often contain tracking parameters or redirect through an affiliate network domain.

Commission Structure

We participate in several affiliate programs relevant to the solar generator space:

  • Amazon Associates: We earn commissions on qualifying purchases made through Amazon links. Commission rates are set by Amazon and vary by product category.
  • Direct manufacturer programs: Some solar generator brands (such as EcoFlow, Bluetti, Jackery, and others) operate their own affiliate programs. We may participate in these when they offer our readers good pricing and reliable service.
  • Specialty retailer programs: We may partner with solar equipment retailers that carry products relevant to our audience.

We do not disclose exact commission percentages because they vary by program and product category, and they are subject to change. What we can tell you is that commissions typically range from a small single-digit percentage to a moderate percentage of the sale price, depending on the retailer and product type.

FTC Compliance

This disclosure is provided in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255). We are committed to full transparency about our financial relationships with the companies whose products we review.
